Weekly Reminder...The Weekly Reminder is an informative tool to help people who read it consider what the man of God has said. This weekend’s articles are based on what was heard on Feburary 20 & 21, 2010 in the Westbury assembly.

We are presently living in a world where darkness is all around us and it doesn’t take much for us to be influenced by it. In our own living rooms the television and the internet can bring to us by just one click of a button, every kind of information and ideas that can easily influence us. In addition we are in a daily battle to fight against the Devil trying to invade our minds. Above all God has never stopped His plan which He has purposed from the beginning of the world; that plan is for His people to live a sanctified or holy life to Him.
We read in Hebrews 13:8, where it confirms that our God does not change but He is the same God yesterday, today and forevermore. We find thru time that God has always called His people to live a separate life to Him; a life that is different and is in accord to His word. While the people of God were in Egypt, God’s purpose was for them to come out of Egypt to serve Him (Exodus 3:10-12). While they spent forty years in the wilderness God gave them commandments that they were to follow and thru these commandments they were to be separated from other nations. Someone once said it took God one day to take the children of Israel out of Egypt but it took forty years to take Egypt out of Israel. The words that they received from God thru Moses were to create a difference between the children of God and the other nations (Exodus 11:7). The wilderness was just a physical place for that process to happen but for forty years experience after experience, God’s words were to sanctify the people of Israel.
God is still calling His people now in our present day to be sanctified and live a life that is pleasing to Him. The church is the perfect environment provided for that sanctification process to take place. In the church we get an opportunity to hear the word of God from the man whom God raised. We need to hear the word of God because it gives us direction on how to live for God. We find in Psalms 119:9, the question was asked, “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? And the answer was also given” by taking heed thereto according to Thy word”. Taking heed here is not just hearing the word with no practice but by applying the word of God to the daily life. Our sanctification depends on the word of God because as God calls us out of the world, we come in with different ideologies which we bring with us from the world. Unfortunately the four walls of the building is not what separate us but it is the word of God as it is being applied in our every day life.
The scripture is quoted many times in Revelation 18:4, “And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues”. Unfortunately coming out from the world is not only a physical process. Of course for Christians there are some places we need not to go and certain environment that can be detrimental to our spiritual lives (we should stay away from them). This scripture must be applied spiritually, because we must understand that “her” here is not a physical place. Her here is a system or a spirit that the devil is using to hinder the people of God that are currently in church from being sanctified. If we ask ourselves this question, “Coming out from where and go where?” we should realize that no physical place can hide us from being partakers of her sins because we can be in the church and still be sinning. The scripture is speaking to the people of God which are in the church and asking them to separate themselves from the spirit of the world. We should not think that the world is just “the people out there” but “people out there that are influenced by the spirit of the devil” (Ephesians 2:1-3). Every one of us at some point before we were sanctified by the word of God was influenced by that spirit. This is why for us to live a separated life for God is so important. We can still be partakers of the sins of the world even inside of the church when we are not abiding by the word of God. When we abide in Christ or the word (not the physical building only), we are able to live separate for God.
Christ realized that and said in John 15:4-7, “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you”.
May God help us to be a sanctified people!
